I would say she needs to be cooled down. I take it shes not sitting on eggs.

Have you got somewhere else you could put her away from the cosy house where she sounds very comfy.  If you can do it dont give her any bedding, just a bare floor and food and water.  It will take about 4-5 days and she should be back to normal.

joy, when you use the dog cage do you leave the hen in overnight or let her sleep in the coop?
thanks.

I have done both, it depends on the weather. Also if you know you have foxes around then I would always put the hen in the coup. If you decide to keep them out all night make sure the cage has a cover of some sort - I use corrugated plastic kept in place by a couple of breeze blocks - just in case it rains over night.

I now have 2 girls that have turned broody on me one being a welsummer ??? Thought they weren't supposed to go broody. ???

Tried the dunking of bums in cold water(which they didn't like) so read this post and the links and have now put the two broodies in the arc with food and water. Why I didn't think of that before now is beyoned me. At least now the others can lay their eggs in peace.

I will put them back in the coop over night and put them back in the arc during the day. Fingers crossed that this works.

It's typical that when I have a mountain of cakes to make I am 2 eggs a day down.
I had to go and BUY some yesterday    Now that is an experience I don't want to repeat lol.
