Cucumber rescue
« on: July 14, 2010, 18:49 »
A few weeks back the leaves and fruit on my cucumbers shrivelled up and died. I had already had at least 12 fruits from each plant but was disappointed that they had not done better - was probably my own fault as though I had taken care to water the plants I did not damp down the staging and floor of the GH. Took some drastic action - cut back the main stem and then trained the side shoots up the support pole. Looked at the plants today and they are already developing new fruits.

Has anyone else had success when they have done something like this?

If they're in the greenhouse then it obviously got a little too hot for them, There's nothing like a bit of pruning to kick some life into sulking plants. I grow all mine outside so keeping them well watered is my problem.
