that i can be sure will do well and that i get a lot of them. Only starting out so don't want to try & grow something get poor results & then give up on the growing??

See if you can get some leek plants from a garden centre and get them bunged in. They'll survive the harshest of winters. There's also winter/spring cabbage and you could sow some beetroot or carrots now as well.

Keep in mind that nothing will actually grow in winter but if you get them in now they'll perk up as soon as the weather warms up.

Excellent I was wondering the same thing.
My hubby is building me a huge planter in the garden (no allotments near me so that and tubs will have to do for us until the kids have finished with swing set and pool in a few years...lol)

Mum has bought me a grow house and all the stuff to get started but no seeds. I have a few herb ones but am starting to think about veggies.
