potatoes
« on: July 05, 2010, 14:27 »
Hi,
I'm new to allotment gardening and planted main crop spuds in Spring which have recently flowered.  I'm puzzled as a few of them have started falling over, leaning a bit and I don't know if this is normal. I've looked at a few other plots and a few other people have the same thing happening but not everyone. Hope someone can help me!
many thanks
Fiona

hiya, it's been a bit windy these last few days so they could have been blown over. Are they still healthy green plants? If so, give them a good drink and they should continue to grow ok. If the leaves are yellowing, they may need a liquid feed or, they may just be coming to the end and be ready for harvest. have a bit of a root around in the soil and see how the spuds look, they may be ready!  :)
There's more comfrey here than you can shake a stick at!
