Hi, i have taken over a plot that has all the soft fruit in different places. I want to build a fruit cage and bring the fruit all together. There are raspberries budding now, Gooseberries fruiting now, Redcurrants just turning red and Strawberries fruiting now.Can all these fruits be easily moved and when is the best time to do it.

Late Autumn onwards, the plants need to be dormant.

If they're fruiting, wait until they've finished. Best if you wait until they go dormant in the fall and move them so you don't have wilting problems. Be prepared to dig deep and wide for the currants and gooseberries which will have good roots by now. Raspberries are shallow spreaders so not as bad. Strawberries are easiest moved with a small clump of soil with roots intact and replant at the same depth to avoid problems. Again, move all in the fall during dormancy. In the meantime you can guesstimate the cage size you'll need and get it built, ready for the big move.
