Grew this Calabrese, germinated it in mid march and cut today.  Thought I had better cut it in case it went to seed.  It seems much bigger than it should be but never grown 'em before so don't know.  It was 10" across.

OH holding the calabrese and a spring onion.

tasted good as well OH eats all his veg raw YUK!! Yes all, brussel sprouts, calabrese, cabbage,  I boiled my bit of calbrese.

Impressive.  I thought it took several months to get to that size!  No. 2 son would eat all his veges raw too quite happily but tends to get them stir fried or lightly boiled, we like them crispy but hot through.

Looks good!

I'm another one who has most vegetables raw, can't stand calabrese or cauliflower even lightly stirfried, has to be raw.

The old man loves salad, he has calabrese on his salad raw,  he has salad 5 nights of the week.  Also he has Type 2 diabetis so salad good for weight control.  I will have it boiled.  Believe it or not I have grown all this stuff but I hate salad, lettuce does nothing for me at all, radish yuk!, salad onions ok, carrott ok, rocket ..revolting stuff, herbs too strong for me, tats ok.

Think it grew that big as the raised bed was new and full of multi purpose compost and couple of bags of farmyard manure, unfortunately the richness of the soil though didn't agree with the carrots which are so forked, twisted and curled like a rattle snake they make peeling impossible almost and I have two different kinds in and they don't taste nicer than supermarket ones.  Radishes didn't do so well either and they are supposed to be easy.  Rads very small and take ages to grow.
