can you eat the layers once they stop laying ?

will you have to feed them growers pellets first sorry dont know that much about chicken
 always had pigeon ?
i ve got some chicken in back yard and i feed them indian corn.. do da do da day haha

They will be as tough as leather and each will have about the same amount of meat as one of your pigeons  :ohmy:

You can keep them as pets, give them away as pets or cull them to replace with new stock.

how long do they live for ,pigeons live up to twenty years usally go infertile before that.

the length of time they can live and also lay for depends on the breed. Hybrids generally live shorter lives and lay constant for two to three years then drop of with production whereas pure breeds have been know to live for twelve years and will continue laying less eggs per week but over a longer period. Grannie Annie was telling me today about a blackrock (hybrid) that was still laying the occasional egg at eight years old.

Joy thats lovely to know, my hybrids are still babies and I want them to live as long as possible, even when they stop laying they will have a home until they have to go to the big chicken coop in the sky  :)

My Bovans Nera (hybrid) is still laying 5-6 eggs per week and she's 5 years old this month :)
