bonfire ash

does anyone knpw if it will harm the soil if i dig in the bonfire ash . i know it will possibly make it poorer  but i would be pleased to know if it will kill any thing?

From what I gather it's a good source of potash (K) and such. As long as it was mainly wood and not paintred/treated/plastic/glass/junk ash. (That's what went in mine, mind!) lol

It's a decent source of potash, a little calcium, and other trace elements so is worth digging in.

It is usually slightly alkaline though so not ideal for spuds (although it probably will have leached away by next year) and should definitely not be used on blueberries or other ericaceous plants.
