Vales emerald.
I planted them im plot around 15 seeds. yield is pathetic low (great taste though). They have all grown, flowered, flopped and died.
the biggest size of potato I got was around the size of chick egg (around 10 of them) and others are very, very, very, very tiny ranging from pea sized to walnut sized.
I have to pull 10 plants to get to make bombay potatoes for 6 people.
But still I liked the taste.
Pentland javelin gone mad in comparison to vales. smallest one was size of chick egg but tastewise it came second to the vales.
One kid is handful. Two kids.... Example for chaos theory. Hats off to my mum who managed three...

I have planted Vales Emerald for the first time this year but they haven't flowered yet.  Can't remember when I planted them either but as the plants look fit and green, I'll leave them for a bit yet.

Hang on a minute, I have just pulled one from near the top of the compost and it's a nice clean new potato the size of a hen's egg. That will do fine ;-)

I have vales emerald in bags and they have flowered and the flower heads have died off now.
I had a furtle in the bags but there ix not much there.

I think the weather has been that dry this year that the plants have flowered due to stress which has thrown peoples timings off for harvesting.

The dry conditions will stop the potatoes from forming in large numbers so yields will be down. Seed could be in short supply this year.

What to look for is a glazed look on the leaves and that is usually a sign that there will be potatoes worth lifting.
