my tomato obsession
« on: May 25, 2010, 19:18 »
Since I realised you could root tomato sideshoots in water then re-pot to make full tomato plants I can'r stop doing it,, I have 11 original plants in the greenhouse and every shoot I take off I put in water and plant up, I hate the thought of wastage of viable plants .
Problem is I have more tomato plants than I could shake a stick at and every time I approach friends/neighbouring plot holders with greenery in my hands they tend to make a hasty exit, and it's costing me a fortune in compost too :)
I think I may need to see a phycologist if this carries on
I'm banned for being obnoxious (not pompous as you might have thought)

You're not the only one.

I'm tempted to actually let the side shoots grow to a rootable size.

Never bother with the water though, straight into a pot!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I did the no water approach with a couple of really thick shoots that I missed early on DD, still in the experimental stage on the window ledge ;)

You could have a tomato plant sale for charity if not for yourself  :)
