Broody Hen??
« on: May 17, 2010, 08:39 »
Hi everyone,

I have fancied keeping chickens for some time now so decided about 6 weeks ago to get 3 Columbian Blacktails.  They were 18 weeks POl when bought, all was going well and 5 days later i had 3 lovely eggs a day for 4 weeks.  Then one of them decided to stop laying and has not layed since (2 weeks now) she has all the sign of being broody but with no eggs. i have to move her about 3 times a day to get some food and water. Can anyone tell me what could be wrong??

Sean

nothing probably if she is broody then she will stop laying. Some will keep laying until they have enough eggs to sit on but others just stop and then wait for some other hen to lay them.
