Cold cucumbers?
« on: May 16, 2010, 16:09 »
Hi,

I have a couple of cucumber plants that are about 6 inches tall but are starting to look a bit sickly.  The bottom leaves are yellowing and the others are curling up at the edges.

Does this mean they are doomed!  They are in an unheated greenhouse, is it too cold for them?

I grew them the same way last year and they were fine.  This year the plants seem smaller and  not happy at all.

This year is also a lot cooler a lot longer so you must take that into consideration. And yes, the cukes are sulking badly due to the cool weather. They need heat. Take them into the house until they can be planted somewhere warm, or start new seeds. If you take them inside, give them a diluted dose of liquid fertilizer to perk them up a bit.

Thanks Trillium, I will do just that.  I have planted another seed as a back up but will try to rescue these ones  :)
