 In feet and inches please, what size is an allotment. I gather there is an actual size based on it being 6 poles in length(no jokes about it depending on how tall he is !). What is the width and length please.

1 pole = 16.5 feet
6 poles = 99 feet

mile = 8 furlongs
furlong= 10 chains
chain = 100 links -> 4 rods
1 rod = 25 links = Thanks dad I still remember 
(he is a retired civil engineer and one of the firsts to do survey both in imperial and metrics)
and just read rod=pole

It's one of those odd things.
 
A pole is actually a linear measurement, but if you refer to a 10 pole plot, it means it's 10 poles x 10 poles.
