Having just brought a large bag of rabbit food, I got home to find that the he had died  in the day in his hutch, my really question is the chickens have been eating it is it ok to let them eat it in moderation as the pet shop wont take it back (wont be using them again). They all seem ok eating it rabbit used to just let them bless him.

Sorry to hear about your rabbit 
I've heard somewhere that it is okay to scatter a few rabbit pellets around as a treat for the chickens, but if you do, make sure they have got lots of their proper pellets too.
I suppose you could let them finish the bag off, but if I were you I wouldn't buy any more especially for them.
If you decide to continue letting them have the rabbit pellets, keep an eye on the chickens just in case.
I own a rabbit, but I wouldn't feed the chickens her pellets just to be on the safe side.
It's up to you.
