raised beds...:-)!!
« on: May 08, 2010, 22:43 »
My raised beds are finally full and ready to plant... one already has loads of stuff growing in... beetroot, onions, lettuce and mangetout...

my question is.... My raised beds are in my garden and approx 2 ft ish high, would i be safe growing carrots.. there are no allotment sites nearby.. im thinking carrot fly mainly... i have ways grown them in pots which i put on a wall so never had any problem...

Also could i plant a courgette in a raised bed or would it be better in a pot.. i am unable to plant directly into the garden as it it clay topped so can only have plants (edible veg etc) with roots that go no more than 2 ft down...(our house was built on a waste site or something)... Thanks  :D

you could grow your carrots under fleece just to be sure, as I'm not sure that 2 ft is high enough to stop the fly
