Hi everyone, been to the garden centre today and once again iv'e bought Lupins, over the years iv'e tried many times to grow them but iv'e never had one last long enough to flower :( :( they alway's get eaten by something, whats the best protection? can you guy's help please :)

It's the slugs every time..........they do this to my delphiniums :mad:

The only answer IMO is slug pellets or nematodes......good luck

I grew some red lupins from seed last year (Red Flame). They're still potted up as I've not had time to plant them out yet. They have been outside since last June and nothing's touched them.  Maybe that's because they're by the pond which is full of frogs. Just a thought  :)

Thanks peeps, i never thought about putting them by the pond in which i counted 29 adult frogs last month :D i'll put the Lupins there, fingers crossed :)

we grown a variety gallery mixed but lupins they are very susceptible to slug damage :ohmy:  we grow our lupins on in pots when large enough into containers we had a lovely show last year 8) so going to set the same variety again this year i found growing in containers was the only way i could control slugs :) the seed purchased is supplied as film coat to reduce the risk of colletotrichum that's what the packet says can anyone tel me what colletotrichum is   :wacko:
