fertilizing grass
« on: April 16, 2010, 17:20 »
hello, I wondered if it was ok to liquid feed my lawn and if so how long to keep the chickens off of it ,as at the moment they are allowed to feed off of it , or do I just leave it and let the chickens fertilize it for me

I've been wondering the same thing. The liquid feed I usually buy says it's safe for animals but I'm still not sure. I will watch your replies hopefully someone can answer this.

when it says safe for animals it can mean for animals to go on but most don't eat it all day long. To be sure I would contact the manufacturer - I dont feed my lawn the chicken droppings do it for me  :)
Staffies are softer than you think.

you could try sectioning it off for a week or so, give it time to recover,  let the girls have one half and just rotate like that, as joyfull said the chicken poo is probably the best kind of fertilser, while we are talking about fertiliser, i was in B&Q today having a nosey and i saw a big tub of chicken dropping fertiliser pellets,  i reckon the real thing is probably better  :D :D  nickyx
