Moving artichoke offsets
« on: April 16, 2010, 16:31 »
Hello
Can I call on your experience?  I've got some globe artichokes in the garden that are children of ones I grew ages ago from seed.  Where they are, there isn't really room for them and I've made some nice space on the lotty,  manure dug in in the autumn.

From what I've read, one should move offsets in April.  I'm a bit hesitant as there might be frosts in the next week or so - should I move them before they put on their growth spurt and fleece them up?  Or wait?

Mine normally put on their spurt in May and I've often got the first chokes appearing  during May.  Logic tells me to move them before they start putting their energy into growing?

Any advice very welcome!
 :)
