Hi all, this is my first post but been reading some of the others for a while.
I rescued 5 birds at the end of last summer and i must say what a sorry sight when they first arrived, 2 of the girls sadly didnt live to see out autumn but the other 3 went through the winter with no fuss what so ever,(which amazed me when you think how cold it was this year even down here in sunny Plymouth).
Today i let the girls out as usual for a run in the garden this morning, anyway after a very heavy shower i returned to the garden only to find Stella had died. She seemed in perfect shape first thing and although she was the one in the worst condition when she arrived she seemed to be doing great, nice coloured feathers and crop in good condition, and quite a lump to pick up compared to the other 2.
She had layed an egg today so that rules out being bound.
Do any of you kind people have any ideas what could of happend?

They can have untold underlying conditions and I had one who just had a heart attack one day.

They hide illness very well, (so as not to appear weak and get picked on), often when we do pick up on poorly girls it can be to late, but like us as Raeburg said they can just have a heart attack  .
So sorry for you but you have lots of memories and she had a lovely time with you  xx
