I do not know where you are but I sowed some in May last yr and they were a good crop.

No, its not too late at all.  I sowed mine on the 14th of April last year with a second sowing on the 23rd (just checked me diary!).

I think they are one of those crops you are advised to sow successionally, so any time between March and June is probably ok.

For succesional cropping sow every 3 weeks from 1st March then every 2 weeks from mid april

I sow mine all at once and so harvest over a week or 2, freezing what is not eaten fresh.
This means I can then grow another crop on that part of my small plot.
