any ideas how long i can keep a chicken on her own ?, i am about to loose my last bantam which will leave me with one of my original birds, who is still laying.
i know that the answer would be to get rid of her and to start again, but i cant bring myself to cull an apparently healthy bird.
can i keep her on her own for a while, or should i get a couple of vaccinated hybrids and take a chance ?
if i got rid of my last bird, i think that would be the end of chuck keeping after this last year.

If she seems happy I would not worry about her. I had two hens 2.5 years ago and one died after 6 months. I got two young hens to keep her company, but she hated them and it took months before she would accept them.

Hi Martyn, so sorry to hear that you are now down to your last girl, it would seem that she may be the carrier of the illness so personally I wouldn't introduce any more birds whilst you still have her. Vaccinations are no guarantee that any new girls wouldn't get it  . Hugs to you and Val xx
