Washingtonias are hardy down to 12 deg F,(roughly  minus 10 deg C) but can suffer from root rot if they are saturated for too long. As it is in a pot, you will need to ensure the pot itself does not freeze. Lagging ti with bubble plastic, including underneath, would insulate it.

Hope that helps  :)

As always greatly appreciated :) :) I did put 2 inches of slate chips on top of pot but may move it to a slightly drier spot. Thanks again

Not much in the cold weather, but plenty when it is hot. The danger time is actually Spring, because drying winds can mean that the plants lose quite a lot of water, but the soil could be too dry.

An occasional good soak is better than little and often IMHO, more often in windy/hot weather. I water my palms about once a week in summer, once a month in winter, and kind of inbetween at other times. Pots are about 75 cm across the top  :D
