Hi all, my first message on this forum so treat me gently
I'm new to keeping chickens and intend to start doing so soon. I intend to build my run on a spare patch of land at the side of the house. I've been throwing all the sawdust from my aviary complete with poo and also emptying the rabbits litter tray on this land. Obviously I will need to disinfect with something. If I first dig in the compost, what can I disinfect it with? I will then cover it over with play bark. I suppose I could rake away most of the compost and leave it on the edge if this is better. Please help as hope to get my chickens in a few weeks!

Don't disinfect, just dig it over. In a few weeks the natural soil bacteria will have dealt with any pathogens. Probably the greatest source of disease will be wild birds and small animals.

I agree with ehs , dig over dirt runs, disinfect concrete ones.
