I had 12 plants the the heated greenhouse, about the same in the unheated one, 36 at home in the spare soil around the greenhouses at home and the other 40 or so on the plot.

It sounds like a lot of space, but you can get a wigwam of 8 canes into any small spare corner, it only takes up 2' x 2' (The way I plant them anyway!).
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Hmmm, i never thought of growing them up a wigwam.
I could increase the amount in my greenhouse that way
Looks like i'll have to have a re-think on the greenhouse plan.

Thanks for that DD.

I use that outside, as the plants don't grow so big.

If you use 6'canes and grow the plants to about 4', they're near enough vertical and the structure is self-supporting, nothing else needed.

There's no such thing as an excess tomato seedling.

That's like saying to can have too many peas.

DD
Thanks for the Blight Map & Blightwatch links. I checked the Blight Map for the period June to date last year and I was at the epicenter of a big red blob. No wonder the tomatoes went a bit peaky. I will review with interest this coming spring and summer and have the Dithane ready at hand.

The area where I am in Lancashire is a big potato and tomato growing area. That probably doesn’t help and I am also down wind of them!

Thanks again.
