Hello experts -

I noticed something really odd on one of my chickens backs -  I was checking her over and giving her a dusting with mite powder, when I noticed a large raised thin lump on her back.   its quite possible its a new feather that coming through but not broken the skin -  its about an inch long , it does not look inflamed - however can anyone offer any advice.

I want to make sure that its OK to leave or should I be doing something.

Preen gland?

One of my hens also has a soft lump about 1inch above her wing. I will be trying to get a pic posted tomorrow. Let me know if your hens lump looks the same.

Foxy -  well done it is indeed her preen gland -   I Googled it and found the image below and its exactly the same shape but it does not have the spotty bits on the end.
