Spud query
« on: January 02, 2010, 12:26 »
I grew some lovely spuds last year (my first year)

1st earlies were charlotte
2nds were pentland javelin

but the best by far were the maincrop but for the life of me I can't remember what variety they were.  They were huge and delicious, with a pinish tinge around the eyes, white flesh and made great roasties and bakers.

I think they might have been a Maris, but don't think it was Piper.

I can't put up a photo because they were so delicious, I ate them all

Any ideas?  If i go back to where i bought them, a farm shop, do you think they'll have the same stock this year/
Plot 11L Woodhall allotments, Chelmsford, Essex.

It's against the law in Australia to fornicate with a kangaroo.................unless you are drunk!!!  Otherwise, it'd be disgusting :@

Haven't you got these the wrong way round?

As for the maincrop, there's several like that, a ccommon one being Cara.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

My King Edwards have a pinkish tinge around the eyes.  Have a look in Google images.

Get a diary and write down EVERYTHING you do - this includes not only what you plant but when. Thats just the basics.  As for me I am a fanatic, I not only do this I record when I bought the seeds, how much I paid, precise details as to when I planted, crop rotations, what the weather was like, watering - just about everthing I think is relevant really.  I also record (most importanly) what the thing tasted like, I give everything a "star" rating as to taste out of 5, how nerdy is that!!    oh yes, I also record how other plot holders are doing and anything that seems to be doing well (if they let me into their secrets that is!!)

happy planting...
