My beloved beautiful and intellegent girl Coco has a very "croaky" cluck this last couple of days, our neighbour has recently introduced a very beautiful cockrel, who is very vocal, and I wonder if Coco has been trying to keep up with him vocally.
She seems in good health apart from the croak , any ideas ??

Hi Judrop. How is your hen today- is she sounding any better? A few weeks ago one of our cockerels sounded like he had tonsilitis. I got quite worried about him in fact I posted on the forum about it. After a few days I realised that he was crowing so much in the morning he was making himself hoarse. I think there was some kind of 'who can crow the loudest' competition going on between them all. We also have one hen who goes through croaky phases but she is also the most vocal of all our hens- she is also the smallest but is 'top dog' if you know what I mean. Maybe you are right and your hen is just trying to keep up with him or maybe she likes the sound of his voice...

  :lol:Thanks Maggie, thats pretty much the conclusion I have come to, Coco seems to be top chook now and she is certainly vocal, I will just keep an eye on her to make sure, I know we shouldnt have favourites, but she is mine !
