covered runs
« on: November 23, 2009, 12:08 »
its pouring down again, i am so glad that i covered the run when i built it.

if anyone needs to ask, then i would say it is advisable to cover a run if it is at all practical and affordable, at least the chucks are dry, and the run stays quite dry

grannie, having seen all your pens, it would need a barn to cover them all, we have had a lot of rain, but we live on a slope, so drain quite well, but are still sodden

i would give my right arm to have my run covered , the massive sycamore tree that the run is built around isnt really a probelm its the cost of it .i find it very weird though as the first 3/4 of the run gets bad an u sink in stinking pooy mud but the last 1/4 of the run is always quite dry . i have quite a few tons of woodbark coming it 8 am friday morning it will help a bit .

We covered the run with a tarp. It flapped about and frightened the chickens who all scarpered out into the pouring rain !
We've now battened it to the uprights and it doesn't flap at all.
They're happy now!  :D
