Is my celeriac OK?

Hi All,
    I was told that Celeriac needs a soil on the acidic side so being on chalk here I have never tried to grow them. We really like them so if any one knows if the acidity of the soil is not a problem I will give them a try next year.

I tried celariac for the first time this year...Soil acidic. Grew them in the top bit of the celery bed. Celery done well but not much joy with the celariac. Bulbous base just too small. By the time I had peeled them it was hardly worth the effort!
Will try again next year just to see if it was the fault of the weather.
