I opened mine and they were covered in ants! Not sure if it was the ants that started eating or if something else opened the way for them! I do get pheasants and rabbits in my allotment.

Interestingly, I grew two lots of sweetcorn, one with pumpkins underneath and they were fine.

Hi flowerpower - I guess not.
have you an allotment in Farnham or do you grow at home?  I have a plot on the West Street site.

The squirrel got to our sweetcorn, as I walked up to the lottie he scampered away from his meal(s) and shot up the tree. Blighter didn't even leave a tip! He doesn't know I have chainsaw yet
It's all too much!

Today I went to pick the last few cobs of my corn and found the critter I assume is responsible for previous damage.
There, on his hind legs, munching away at the kernels of a cob that had been stripped of its outer foliage, was a grey squirrel.
I swear that, before he took a final bite and then did a runner, he smirked at me and did a large burp.

Damn squirrels. Why can't they just stick to stealing the nuts put out for the birds!
The successes and failures of each year keep me motivated for the following year.
