Scythes
« on: October 06, 2009, 20:31 »
My OH has wanted a Scythe for ages and ages.  I have promised him one for his birthday.  At the moment I am looking at http://www.thescytheshop.co.uk/ for an austrian scythe but  ???  Anybody use one and can give any advice?

Hi madcat
Scythes take skill to use but looked after carefully will certainly last a lifetime. If you use that website (which I have no experience of) you'll be getting top of the range - at top of the range prices :)

If he really wants one then shop around and get him one... me I prefer the modern, but noisy equivalent- a petrol strimmer/brushcutter - ;)

If you do find a cheaper scythe you can spend the money saved on some Ralgex for him , he will need it*

*unless he does the sensible thing and hangs it on a wall.
