I have 2 globe artichoke plants that i want to grow on to flower, they are about 9"/12" in height and look pretty healthy.Can i pot them on into say a 10" pot with gen purp compost and manure to keep them growing on this winter?

Artichokes should have a rest period in winter. The stem is cut down, and the leaves are tied over the stump to give protection from frost.

When grown as a crop, they get pretty big: 4 - 5 feet high, and about 3 feet across.

   I had these given to me to try out. I kept meaning to buy some in Roscoff when we go over but keep forgetting, shopping pressure from my wife.
