Having just got my new allotment I am keen to use the area and would love the keep either chickens or ducks (chickens seem easier).
However one of the thing I had to sign to take on the allotment was not to keep any animals there. This does not seem to be the case everywhere.

Therefore my aim is to see if I can change the councils policy. Any ideas how I can go about this?

I will also need a chicken house and run, and looking around many seem not unlike rabbit hutches. Having a couple of large (over 6'long) huntches spare, can I convert these for chickens?

call the council directly - depends on their bylaws and stuff I think.  I have chickens at my plot with no number limi imposed, yet.  My uncle is only allowed 6 birds at his but it is a self-managed site.

Nothing wrong with rabbit hutches for chickens....as long as you've got easy access to collect, clean etc. :shock:
