Chicks, the next stage
« on: September 15, 2009, 18:02 »
Hi
Holly, Molly, Dolly and Polly currently reside in the dining room ::)
At 3-4 weeks I would like to transfer them to the shed (with the heat lamp). The shed used to be used for chicken housing but for a while, it has been cleaned with poultry shield. after reading recent posts about nasties such as cocci I am wondering if I should use something else too?
Any other tips on the transition to 'outdoor' life?
Thanks Jo

You will need a good disinfectant that wil kill any occysts that might be lurking, plus other bacteria, Virkon S is the one I use. Poultry Shield as far as I know, is just indicated for redmite eradication :)

If you can't get Vikron the vanodine v18 will also do the job  :)
Staffies are softer than you think.

I use bi-oo-cyst it is guarenteed to kill oocysts parasites worms fungus virus's and bacteria! i bought it from home farm poultry and it cost £20 for 1ltr but you dilute it so it goes a long way. i put it in one of those pressurized pump sprayers so makes it easy to apply
