ripped comb
« on: September 14, 2009, 12:07 »
Hello there and sorry I've not been on the forum for a while.  I'm just wondering if there is anything else we should do to help our Penny.  She must have tried to get something at the other side of the fence and, when pulling her head back, got stuck and ripped the a small section at the back of her comb.  We've been cleaning it with sterile water & lavender oil to ensure it doesn't get infected, and the wound looks clean.  Penny doesn't appear bothered by it, she's on very good form actually, eating lots and laying eggs as normal.  Have any of you experienced this before, and does the comb grow back in time?  Hope you can help.........  Thanks!  Carla

I have not experienced anything but sounds like your doing the correct thing. Keep up the good work.
