I made something similar (I use vegetable oil instead of butter) for a long time, with great success but the last few batches have come out smelling really stale and horrible. I have tried starting a fresh bottle of oil, fresh new ingredients, buying a new baking tin, cleaning the oven, all to no avail. Don't know what's gone wrong.

Have you checked out the airtight container you keep it in? Does it smell weird? You tried everything else :(

Yes - it wasn't that because the stuff smelt weird before I even put it in the container - as soon as it came out of the oven in fact.

Fab, I've also been looking for a recipe for this. Good idea to add to Christmas hampers too.

Anyone tried making granola bars? Tried some homemade ones at a farmers market recently, they were delish! Apparently just made by mixing granola with a sugar syrup and left to set, but I'm not having much luck atm!
