Granola
« on: September 02, 2009, 19:18 »
I couldn't find my recipe for granola so I started from what ingredients need using and it came out really tasty. Used an 8fl oz cup.

2oz butter
2tbs honey
3 cups oats
1 cup dessicated coconut
1/2 cup almonds
1/2 cup hazelnuts
1/4 cup sunflower seeds
1/4 cup pumpkin seeds
1/2 cup chopped dried apricots
1/2 cup raisins

Melt butter and honey, stir in rest of ingredients except fruit spread on 2 large baking sheets and cook on 150C stir after 10 mins. Cook for further 5 - 10 mins depending on your oven. Cool on baking sheet the tip into airtight container and add the dried fruit, mix well.

I like demerara sugar added but OH likes it unsweetened.

Of course!  I was thinking of all sorts of things ending in Husband...helpful, since I've only recently acquired myself one!  Perhaps I shall call him Old Husband after a while.  Thanks again!

I have to admit to snacking too, I also  used it as a quick topping on stewed fruit instead of making a crumble topping. At this rate I'll be making another batch but as it's sunny out there and only windy instead of yesterday's gale up here, I'll leave it til a rainy day. Probably not long to wait then ::)

I'm down to the last bit now, it's still yummy, will have to resort to hiding it so I don't have to share

I can't believe I haven't had a rainy day to make another batch :D

Thanks for this Poolfield  - I think!
It's so nice that no one wants to eat the packets in the cupboard, and I have just agreed to make a nut free version for DD and hubby ::) ::)

I'm so glad that I actually wrote down what quantities I used, I usually think Oh I'll remember that and then promptly forget.

I've made a batch with demerara in cos I have a sweet tooth and I like it even more but will only give myself that treat every now and again.
