spuds with holes 2
« on: September 01, 2009, 23:32 »
recently posted a problem with my potato crop having holes in them. a friend of mine told me they could be wire worm. thanks to eveyone who replied with help. however i have dug some spuds up this morning and actually caught the culprit still in the spud.it looks like a little slug with a flat tail. it was about 20mm long and it's head was bulbous. (probably full of potato) any ideas as to what it is and how can i deal with the problem.
never seen em on the surface.
if they are slugs will slug pellets do the trick when i sow my next crop? :D

you can buy nematodes that parasitize slugs.
watering the soil then putting your slug pellets down and covering them with something (eg sheet of black plastic) can increase their effectiveness.
All these moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.
