Tomato flowers query?
« on: August 27, 2009, 14:52 »
Not sure whether to snip off tomato flowers? Plants all looking pathetic, got a few toms, small & green & a few flowers, shall I snip off, give the toms a chance? Thanks for any help.

If they are outdoors, I would probably nip of the growing tips by now, so that the energy goes into the fruit that has already formed.

If they are indoors, I let them just carry on, if we get some unexpected nice weather between now and winter, you may still get some fruit from the flowers up until the end of the year.  Not the pristine salad toms as we know them, but good enough for souping and saucing.  On the downside, this means you can't clear out your greenhouse until Christmas/New Year.

Thanks for that. If only I had a greenhouse, if only I had the space!  Unexpected nice weather!!!!! I wish!! I think I'll just give them a little trim & see what happens ???
