Moving Blackcurrant & Redcurrant bushes
« on: August 23, 2009, 22:12 »
Hello all, I have been given currant bushes that are growing in a garden, what is the best way to move them to my plot do i prune etc. Or should I uproot and just replant as soon as?

I've always just dug mine with as big a soil rootball as I can and move it quickly. Water well once in place and then prune later in the season.

It would be better to wait until they have dropped their leaves and then cut them back by about a third.
