I've grown some tall sunflowers (8ft) but I'm a bit disappointed with the size of the flower heads. They're about six inches in diameter. Is this the norm?

I have been feeding them regularly with miracle-gro.

I've got some with huge flower heads and some with small ones and even one with three flower heads...

We have 5 growing and they are mixture of sizes. One is very large but a couple are quite small. I would like to use the seeds for eating, could anyone give me advice on when to do this? Do I cut the head off or leave it on until they dry? Thanks.

we are growing some and to our surprise their a dark red almost purple got loads of heads per plant not huge size but in height about 6ft plus. anyone know what sort they could be

?cant find packet but would like to grow some more nexy yr
