My Pentland Javelins are up now
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

I know this is a really stupid question, and if Munty was here he'd probably wassuck me, but how do you know when to harvest spuds? especially when you're like me and haven't got a clue which row is early, 2nd earlies or maincrop (i forgot to label them; just wrote down "potatoes   )

Maincrop and second earlies : harvest when the haulm dies down
first earlies : harvest when you can't wait any longer!  (actually when foliage starts to go yellow)

earlies when they have flowers for a few weeks
and maincrop when they stop flowering.
failing that have a dig under the plant with your hands
feed the soil not the plants
organicish

Usually with earlies they say to wait until the plant has flowered this gives you an idea they have reached a edible size, so your 1st's should flower 1st
