thank goodness for my freezer! Most of my surplus ends up in there, iether blanched or made into portions of casserole etc. last week, we aet the last of last year's blackberries in a crumble. mmmmm. I leave what I can in the ground (cabbages, swede carrots etc) for as long as I can but am still learning how to make the most of what I produce.. think I always will be!
There's more comfrey here than you can shake a stick at!

Last year I was still eating my tomotoes in November because they were so late in fruiting that I picked the green ones off in October and they ripened on the kitchen window.  That helped a little bit but then I had to eat the supermarket ones which are rubbish by comparison.

Cucumbers are delicious sliced and covered with vinegar and a bit of sugar .....so should store that way. Depends on why you like, I suppose!
Still glowing, still growing, still going strong!

It all depends what I have an excess of to put in the freezer and how rich I am feeling whether I have to eat supermarket veg. If I have a good summer and stock up well, perhaps the shortfall will be made up from an organic box (not from the supermarket).

If not, well I shall just have to whinge.  ::)

Don't have to eat from supermarket :)

Stored:
Spuds, carrots, turnips, swede, beetroot etc in boxes with sand
Plus tons of jams, chutneys etc
Dried mushrooms

Growing in greenhouse:
Salads, hardy radish, wild garlic

Growing on plot:
Spinach, chard, kale, sprouts, parsnips (I wish), leeks

Also there is quite a bit to be found out and about i.e. mushrooms wild stuff etc

Regards,

That's interesting. Can I ask how long they'll keep in the vinegar/sugar mix?
