Rotting tomatoes
« on: July 17, 2009, 12:28 »
Hi all,

ive got some plum tomatoes growing and the bottom of some of them have gone all brown and kind of dry as though they may be rotting?  Can any one help me out with what it may be?? I'll take some pics.

It sounds like blossom end rot.  It is caused by irregular watering though some varieties are more susceptible than others and  plum tomatoes seem to be particularly bad.

Try to keep them well watered and they will probably grow out of it.

Cheers,

Gillie

Obviously pull off the ones with rotten bottoms, but as Gillie says, if you keep them well watered the new ones should be fine :)
