Has anyone tried to grow hops on an allotment? If so, where do you start?

I've moved this to Grow Your Own as it's about growing things.

Also if you do a search there have been a number of posts about this, look for jonny tinslecat as he has done this and advised others too.

PS Welcome to the forums  :D
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Hi, i've been growing hops on my allotemnt for 5 years , no problems so far. You need to get root stock from a supplier , i used A+ Hops approx £5 per plant. I would suggest you look at putting up  frame work where you can tie strings to, for the hops to grow up. I used 2" x 2" wood at a height of approx 16 foot.
