How do i store my onions!!!!
« on: July 14, 2009, 15:50 »
Hi, just lifted quite a few onions from my veg patch at home and wanted to know what i need to do with them now, i think i need to let them dry out for a few days but beyond that i'm pretty clueless.....any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Onions are dried the same as garlic.

to store them, either lay them in a single layer on a slatted shelf in the dark in a dry shed, basement, whatever that is frost free. Or on mesh shelves.
If you choose mesh bags, they should sit in single layers as they'll quickly build up internal heat if bunched and start to sprout.
Some folk put them singly in lady's tights legs, knotting between each onion to keep them separate, and hang the tights as above.
