lidl cloches - any good?
« on: April 19, 2007, 12:00 »
My husband as just come home with 10 mini UV resistant poly tunnel covers 2 x 5m that someone gave him at work, I think they came from Lidl. He also gave him 2 packs of fleece 2 x 10 m.

I was going to make some Geoff Hamilton cloches.

Does any one know how good lidl's stuff is i wanted the cloches for my peppers, tom's and protect the carrots.
Try my best to be Organic but don't always make it

Thanks ruffmesiter_69,

I did think I could use two together to make the cover stronger if warmth was an issue but I doubt I'll need to do that until after summer.

OH got the lot for £5 so can't complain.

I got some B&Q cloches for seven pund each they have vents either side and are triangle shaped.  Think they are about 4ft long and 1ft wide haven't measured it.  Not such a bargin as yours but incase no one can get hold of your type anymore.

Must admit I did look at those B&Q tent shaped cloches but I would have had to buy a few and I really want to make as much as i can by myself.

I was chatting to another Mum on the lotto site today and she used net curtains last year and had her best crops yet. So I might try that too!

i got two of the ones from lidls, they are a little on the flimsy side but you can give it extra strength by fixing it with cable ties,on the plus side they give you a lot af ground coverage, could easily be used to cover a tripple row of carrots.
