When did you plant them?  Do they have any green shoots coming out of them at all?

I planted them on the 10/04 . They have grown to about 12 inc but are not fattening out at all. I haven't been feeding them and watered them when dry

I put mine in in December - are they like garlic were they need a cold snap??  Probably variety dependent.

I am sure I remember hearing one of the OB saying they take about 9 months, could be wrong but ours took about that. I appreaciate now why supermarkets have the prices they do.

October planted, came out in June = 8 months

March planted, I expect August = 5 months
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Mine went in with a load of chicken manure, (pellets) dug in.

I've only watered about 3 times when dry, not at all in the last 2 or 3 weeks, not found the need.

I've had a good year with onions for a change! I put it down to getting them in early (beginning of March) and mixing a little well rotted horse muck into the soil. But I was also worried they weren't fattening a few weeks ago, then, all of a sudden they started to swell. Now they are all hanging up to dry! Don't give up just yet!
There's more comfrey here than you can shake a stick at!

They will need feeding and watering.
Pelleted chicken poo seems commonly used but no idea how much you need to add.
Could use the simple approach until you can stand the smell no more. :D :D :D :D

Then it depends on the type, think there are 3 onion types and they do different things depending on the day length.

Actually for what seems like a simple crop they are more complicated.

I sowed some alicia craig in Feb. They are about golf ball size but the leaves are going a bit floppy. If I prop them up will they keep growing or is that it?

If the  leaves have flopped over that's it I'm afriad. My rubbish seeds grown ones are doing that, but the sets are still going great guns!
