Im looking to but some hens for laying in teesside/durham/north yorkshire area but cant really find any suppliers. Does anyone know of anywhere in these areas where I could get some POL birds and does any one have any suggestions on breed. I was considering some rhode island reds ... will these be ok with young kids around.

I know there must be loads of breeders out there !

ad trader normally has a few chickens in for sale ,also a breeder chester le street fone no on a post somewhere in this section ( only rem cos i put it on) weve got bovans as we were told these were good egg layers. not sure if thats any help

if you just want some reds get to your nearest battery hen factory and get some of those, they are normally only £1 each, and are laying right away. Plus they are usually under 1 year old too. Look a bit nasty for a while till feathers grow back, but they supply the goods man....  just a thought
