just a quick question.  when are gooseberries ready to eat?  Im slightly wary as I made myself violently sick when I was 10 so any help would be appreciated. thanks

You can cook them before they are ripe, with plenty of sugar and an elderflower head in it for a really delicious compote (or pie filling of course  )

Some ripen, green, some yellow, some are red. Thye are ripe when slightly translucent and 'give' a bit IMHO
